44 East Ave Newsletter – June 2019

44 East Ave
On the Edge of Lady Bird Lake.

Page began its architectural legacy in Austin in 1898. Its storied history spanning over 120 years includes landmark buildings such as the Austin Convention Center. We are thrilled that the iconic firm so deeply rooted in Austin is the architectural team for the highly anticipated 44 East Ave slated to rise in the Rainey Street District starting next year.

44 East Ave will offer 322 homes with a wide-ranging mix of floorplans. Its shape will take full advantage of the spectacular views up and down Lady Bird Lake and northwest toward downtown. Larry Speck, Senior Principal at Page, spoke enthusiastically about the building’s design and unique site. “What I am most excited about for this project is the way the building will interact with the city and the landscape. How many places in the world can you live both in the middle of the city and in the middle of such a beautiful natural environment? I think the building will really optimize that amazing combination.”

While the tower’s stepped shape will offer extraordinary panoramic views, the lower levels of the site also drove the design intent. Two heritage trees are planned to be preserved to extend the soft green character of the park across the street into the project. Retail spaces, a lobby designed to invite conversation and a small outdoor public space all grew out of the close relationship to the park.

World class, multi-level amenities will also be designed to take advantage of the breathtaking views. Page is an international example of the powerful difference architects can make in building cities and communities and will bring the best of design and function to this convenient and vibrant location in the Rainey Street District. We cannot wait to welcome 44 East Ave to the Austin skyline.
